One of the most unique products offered by the Summers Insurance Agency is Legal Insurance. For $16.95 per month you can essentially put an attorney on retainer.

The name of the plan is PrePaid Legal insurance and it has been around for almost 40 years. Every conceivable legal problem is covered by the plan. The reason why I can say that is there are very specific things that are covered under the plan and then if it is not specifically covered by the plan, you get a 25% discount.

Here are just some of the things covered by legal insurance:

As a member, you can consult with your Provider Law Firm toll free by phone on any personal or business-related matter. Just call your Provider's toll-free number during regular business hours when you have a legal problem or question.

A phone call or letter from your Provider Lawyer can get you the results you want fast. Your Provider Lawyer will recommend a letter or phone call when that is the best step for you. One call or letter per personal subject related matter is free with your membership. Plus, you'll receive two business letters each year at no additional cost! Additional assistance for same subject at 25% discount.

You can have an unlimited number of personal legal documents, up to ten pages each, reviewed by your Provider Lawyer. Included each year is one business document review at no additional cost! Your Provider Lawyer will analyze the documents and suggest changes for your benefit before you sign.

A Will for you at no additional charge, not just a "simple" Will, but one that meets most Americans' needs - with free yearly reviews and updates. Wills for covered family members are just $20 each; changes and updates $20. Trust preparation is available at a 25% discount.

Your Provider Lawyer will represent you or your covered family members against moving traffic violations at no additional cost to you. Now you can have help with traffic tickets and not have to worry about the cost of representation.

All this and much more for $16.95 per month and you can cancel anytime. Finally legal representation from reputable law firms that you can afford.

For more information on this unique product either fill out the form above or give us a call at 617-542-8432 and we look forward to protecting you from legal situations.

Legal Insurance

If you have gone through the legal process at any time during your lifetime you would be buying Legal Insurance before reading the rest of this post. There is nothing more frustrating than being involved in the legal process and knowing that every time an attorney answers a question on your behalf, picks up the telephone on your behalf, goes to a meeting on your behalf, or thinks about your case you are being billed. Depending upon the case legal fees can run tens of thousands of dollars.

Have you ever wanted to call an attorney but didn't either because of the cost or you did not know who to call? Legal Insurance was created so that you know your rights. Some of the reasons you would call an attorney are:

  • To prepare a will
  • To read a contract like a purchase and sale agreement if you were buying a home or a lease if you were renting a home
  • Paid a bill that you knew was not correct or not fair or you had a dispute with a service company
  • Received a traffic ticket that you thought was unfair
  • Been involved or had questions regarding divorce
  • Needed advice on a credit card or credit matter
  • Had questions on an insurance claim
  • Need to know about guardianship
  • Had questions about consumer rights
  • These are just a few of many reasons you need a legal insurance plan

Fighting For An Extension Of Time
The Income Tax Act and the Excise Tax Act provides that a taxpayer may file a notice of appeal in the Tax Court of Canada to dispute a Canada Revenue Agency decision to deny the taxpayer's objection. The general rule is that the taxpayer must file his notice of appeal in the Tax Court within 90-days of the date that the Minister of National Revenue mailed the notice of reassessment or notice of confirmation. If a taxpayer does not file a notice of appeal within the 90-day period, he may ask the Tax Court to extend the time for filing the notice of appeal. Fighting for an Extension of Time is an article that outlines the 4 conditions that a taxpayer must satisfy to persuade the Tax Court that an extension of time to file is warranted. In particular, the article examines the Tax Court's reasons for judgement in MPN Holdings Ltd v. HMQ and the condition that a taxpayer must establish that he had a bona fide intention to appeal.

Super Group Doctors Beware of Departure Provisions
Super groups are in vogue as physicians do their best to reduce costs and enhance revenues. A "super group" is essentially a collection of previously separate competitors who have joined a single legal entity in order to achieve certain advantages. Those advantages tend to be (1) reducing overhead expense associated with economies of scale. Buying insurance for a group of 100 doctors should be far less expensive per doctor than a group of three doctors; (2) gaining leverage in managed care contracting. 20 groups of five physicians each cannot contract with a payer with "one voice" due to the antitrust restrictions, but a single group of 100 doctors can; and (3) finding new revenue sources. Small groups and solo practices cannot afford revenue producing services like surgery centers, imaging services and such. When practices combine, they have a greater patient base, which makes the development of new revenue sources feasible.
